Highly recommend. Sweet spot to pick up breakfast or lunch. Was very popular, yet we didn't wait long. Enjoyed egg on toast and grits. Prices are great, very affordable. Very friendly. You order through the window in the door (At least in these pandemic times.) Picked up breakfast before a flight out, was very glad we did. Wished I had thought to pick up an extra sandwich for the plane.

A true definition of a mom and pop! Literally! I was referred to this location by my homie Crystal as we discussed several local restaurants in the area. After reading reviews and trusting her judgement, I decided to give Tater Bread a try. Located close to downtown Durham, it's a small, homely/humble location that appears to be family-owned. It's pretty obvious & right down my alley! The menu is easily accessible as it's enlarged on the side of the building so it's rather easy to find what you want. Luckily, we ran into the son and asked him directly. Real cool dude, super humble and patient as my mom and aunt asked him a million questions...lol. He recommended the salmon cakes as they are a big hit in the Durham community, but I chose the corned beef hash, which comes with 2 eggs/cheese, home fries (potatoes and onions) and your choice of wheat or white toast. My mom got the same, and my auntie ordered the same just instead of corned beef hash, she got the smoked turkey sausage. If you're from the country, Tater Bread puts you in the mind of a Piggly Wiggly/Pak A Sak style breakfast. Serves the purpose and straight to the point, and is really good. It's rather hard to screw up breakfast, but a lot of restaurants in fact do. It's like the perfect breakfast to hold you during a long-winded AME Zion church service if your pastor preaches past 1:30 pm and won't shut the hell up and you ready to leave because you hungry as s**t, the only thing is they're closed on Sunday. Definitely going back and making this one of my breakfast picks in the 919! All 3 of us ate for $20 bucks.

This is a hidden (and I mean, hidden-- it is tucked away behind Los Primos supermarket) Durham gem. This place is tiny and it gets very busy inside so be prepared. The service was friendly and everyone seemed to know each other from the neighborhood. The prices are inexpensive but be prepared to pay in cash. I got a pork sandwich and my husband got a breakfast biscuit. Both were enjoyable but I think their breakfast offerings outdo the lunch. The biscuit was AMAZING-- seriously rivals True Flavors biscuit way more affordable. I also got a lemonade which was tasty. I didn't try the tater bread but will next time. If you want to be able to say that you have tried all the best breakfast offerings in Durham, you need to go to the ATM and then head to Tater Bread.

Inexpensive and great tasting. If you're tired of fast food stop by this dinner! Cash only, is the only inconvenience, but completely worth it.

Hidden gem! Have seen this place many times and finally stumbled in. Definitely rivals the likes of Monuts and Rise, and for half the price! A foodie must try. Only had their breakfast so far but excited to try the homestyle lunch options as well.

Tater bread. It is good. It is real good. Essentially the inside of pumpkin pie but better. It is sweet potato and all kinds of goodness. Do yourself a favor for a taste of sweetness and bring cash since this is cash only -- and if you call it "potato bread," they will not sell you squat.

I really like this place. Lunch specials in particular. Chicken and dumplings on Wednesdays with collards and cabbage and cornbread. Yum. The salmon patty biscuit is also a winner.
